Okay… so there’s this new thing that ‘everybody is doing’. Yeah I’m not trying to follow the crowd but I LOVE IT. That might be an understatement. I’m slightly obsessed. Its called Pinterest. You have to get an invite to start… and I was invited today so I’m pretty cool. Just kidding around. But seriously I love it. Everyone just posts pictures of things they love, want, want to make, love doing.. you get the picture. Then if you love it you pin it to your board. Its pretty legit. So all of your favorite crafts, or pictures, or your dream houses yadayadayada can all go on your board. Yeah I know its genius. Go check it out. Mine is http://pinterest.com/stonerbabe/ and don’t make fun. I just started today remember. Don’t get as obsessed as I am k? well try. Love you all.
As we get older days, weeks, months, semesters and years all start to fly by in a blur. It was only a month ago that I graduated from high school right? Wrong.. very wrong indeed. Close to a year ago I left the high school scene and was thrown into the world of the Zoobie. Then I think about it and whoa… my freshman year is over too. Where does the time go? Then I start to think about this dilemma I have going on, ya know time flying by too fast, and I realize I’m the one making it happen. My eyes are always set on some distant time or place that I can’t wait to arrive at. In high school I longed to be on the BYU campus. At BYU I couldn’t wait to be home, done with school, working as a nanny. And now as a Nanny I look forward to the weekends, Lake Powell and a fabulous trip to New York. There is really no one to blame but myself. So from now on I pledge to find joy in the small, and slightly entertaining things that make my day a day, laughing all the while. Here are a few of those moments I think you might enjoy as well…
·Having the fire alarm go off 3 times in one day in a failed attempt to make muffins.
·Taking in the scene of you and a 3 year old opening every door and window and running around the house waving oven mitts trying to air the house out.
·Listening to a disgusted 9-year-old whine about Adam and Eve’s nudity in the Garden of Eden.
·Kissing scrapes, cuts and skimmed knees better, only after applying a good dosage of Neosporin and a band aid.
·Reading a Scooby-doo magazine EVERYTIME you go to the library.
·Making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches without the peanut butter.
·Having hundreds of strangers stare at you wondering if you were ’16 & pregnant’.
·Hearing the 7 year old wisely teach the 3 year old that “duh… girls don’t fart. I learned that in school.”
·Watching 3 boys dip there head in a bucket of water, then run around the house like maniacs with their shirts off.
·Holding a sobbing child while he explains that “a bee that stings you” flew by him.
·Hearing “whoa… do that again” everytime I have to move the seat up to reach the peddles of my new swagga wagon (mini van).
These are just a few of the funny and downright hilarious things I hear everyday. Yes, these children can be infuriating at times but I love them to pieces and from here on out I’m going to not get caught up in the future, but try to enjoy the present :)
p.s. glee... you did it again. listen to this song and if you don't LOVE it... there must be something wrong with you.
Happy Cinco De Mayo folks :). Today we had a party celebrating this magnificent holiday. And by we I mean Sawyer, Carter, Parker (the boys I nanny), and I. It was a splendid party. We put on festive Sombreros, drew mustaches on our faces with washable marker, and ate nachos, taquitos, and chips and salsa. Needless to say we had a good time.
Being a nanny is the greatest. Lets take a review of some of the highlights of my first week of nannying shall we?
MondayParker and I went to the park. He is such a flirt, and he’s only three! He chased an older girl around the whole time, I think he had a crush.
(PK on the Slide)
(She's a few feet taller but that won't stop Parker)
Tuesday I took parker to the Merry-go-round at South Towne and we rode around a few times. Parker loved it!
Wednesday the boys made mothers day cards. They were so darling. then we took some pictures and printed them out to give to their Mom. Three handsome boys I’d say. Happy Mothers Day to all you amazing mothers, from the Knowlson Boys :)
As Miley Cyrus acronymically (not really a word… just pretend) put it GNO, or Girls Night Out. Friday was Tasha’s birthday. Bless her for having a birthday… because birthdays give us a chance to celebrate and indulge. And oh boy did we celebrate. Like champions. We picked her up and drove down town, which was no easy task mind you considering the fact that it was rush hour and there was some freak snow storm that only decided to dump on the freeway. Mother nature… its May now. Could you give it a rest? Anyway. We arrived at the gateway and after twenty minutes of guiding Christy to the correct parking garage we began our quest.. impersonate Selena Gomez and make a music video to her new hit “Who Says.” We got pretty creative I must say filming anywhere and everywhere we could in the gateway; escalators, windows, motorcycles, arcades, in the food court, fountains, bridges, and yeah I think you get the picture. We were famished by 7 so we headed to Tucanos, which I must say is heaven on earth. Our waiter, Peter, soon became our best friend. We ate, and ate, and then ate some more. We decided we should stop eating when Peter so tactfully said “I can’t believe you girls are still eating….” After snapping a picture with Peter........
and adding him as a friend on FB, we left. And that is where the journey truly begins.
Lost downtown. Where in the world is the Marriot?
8:00 PM Friday night, leave the gateway in our procession of 3 cars.
8:05: decide we have no idea where the Marriot is.
8:15 find the Marriot on South Temple, drive around the hotel close to 10 times trying to figure out where we park.
8:20 ask Christy to call her Mom and make sure this is the right marriot and ask her where we should park.
8:22 receive a call from Christy confirming that this is the right hotel.
8:25 order of cars: Christy, Chelsee, Kayla. Me and Kayla get separated from Christy at a light.
8:30 we finally decide to ask a construction worker where to park, and we find the parking garage.
8:35 Park the cars, and then realize Christy is no where in sight.
8:37 Head to lobby and call Christy, she is still lost.
8:50 Christy finds the parking garage, parks and makes her way up to the Lobby.
8:55 we were already checked in so we head upstairs to our room, so anxious to take a load off.
8:57 insert key cards and… they don’t work. Send Christy down to figure out why they don’t work. Meanwhile me Kayla, and Tasha were sprawled across the 12th floor hall exhausted from the confusion of downtown.
9:05 Some sweet lady walks down the hall, takes a look at us (probably judging..) and then holds up a single black key and asks us if it is ours, we then thanks her for asking but inform her it is not.
9:10 Christy returns with bad news, 1. We were at the wrong Marriot, and 2. She lost her single black key for her car.
9:12 awkwardly knock on the strangers room and tell her the key actually does belong to us. How ironic that that lady picked up the key and was on the 12th floor of our not really hotel?
9:20 leave the extraordinarily well hidden parking garage.
9:25 spot the Marriot on state street and drive around and around until we find the parking garage.
9:30 park the cars and head up to the lobby. Switch elevators and get out smarted by the elevator we entered (turns out you had to stick in your key card to be able to select a floor… who knew?)
9:35 make it to the 12th floor of the right hotel located on state street. Find our room, and immediately flop on the beds once inside. WAHOOO!!!!!!
We then went to the swimming pool, and then for the rest of our night resumed our roles as Selena Gomez and finished our music video. It was quite the adventure… and I can’t help but laugh at how stupid we were. But oh it was funny. Such a great night, and such great memories with the best of friends.
The link to the video is coming soon..... having some technical difficulties. so hold tight all. or... log onto FB and you can watch it there :). nighty night.
